Falling for Fall

Aside from the fact that it becomes winter, fall is definitely my favourite season. I’m no longer sticky, sweaty and forced to show my pale gams, and I’m ready to pull out fun boots and chunky scarves.

Sure, I feel like it’s dark more than it’s light outside, and sometimes a warm blanket seems a lot more appealing than going outside, but let’s be real: Fall becomes winter, and winter means Christmas. Did I just say that in October?

Here are three of my favourite things about fall:

1. Crisp Walks with Warm Drinks (Pumpkin Spice Latte, anyone?) and Lovely Friends

One of my best friends, Natalie, and I love to go on Photo Walks (a little name we’ve given to walking, chatting, and snapping pics), and we especially love doing it in this colourful season. Growing up in Alberta, we barely had a ‘fall.’ We went from moderate summer temperatures to snowsuits and rosy cheeks. You can see why we’re so excited about fall in Ontario! We grabbed yummy warm drink and strolled through a park in Cabbagetown, channeling our inner child and throwing crunchy leaves into the air. A true favourite fall activity.

2. The Colourful Leaves

I realize this one is kind of a cop out, because I already mentioned the leaves in the previous section. But I just love them so much! I love watching them change colour on the trees, and slowly fall off the trees, crunching beneath your feet. Though, I don’t envy the people who have to rake up huge piles of leaves! My favourite are the bright red maple leafs! A true canuck.

3. Love is in the Air

I suppose you could say this about any of the seasons, but I really think there is something romantic about fall. The summer fun loving is ending, and real love is starting to blossom. It’s starting to get chilly outside, which can only mean one thing: more cuddling. And with the days getting shorter, the romantic dinners can start earlier and last longer. Sigh. I love love.

Well, what makes you fall in love with fall?

Great pictures! I have to agree, fall is a beautiful time of year. And your blog is a good reminder to look around and enjoy all the beautiful colours!
